SkinLabo declares itself to be strongly cruelty free, meaning it is committed to not testing its products on animals. It is also in the process of certifying itself cruelty free so that it can ensure that the value of respecting animals is also safeguarded in its supply chain.
As the company's sustainability team tells us however, cruelty free is not perceived by SkinLabo as any kind of differentiating character: " too many brands sell the fact they are not on animals as a choice, in fact it is a very clear obligation since 2013. Why brag about it!?
What is not being said, however, and what we should be very proud of as European citizens, is that we are the first "country" to have gained awareness and have acted upon it with a stringent regulation forbidding animal testing, except that today we are in danger of taking a step backward....
CRUELTY FREE IN EUROPE: WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO SAFEGUARD THIS LAW?
European standards for animal welfare are among the highest in the world, and the European Union is recognized as a global leader in this area.
In Europe, testing makeup, creams, soaps and perfumes on animals has been banned since 2004, and since 2013 the European Union has declared a ban on the sale of products tested on animals on its territory.
European rules ensure that products that come into contact with our skin are not harmful to our health, and therefore, to ensure that products are safe, they do not need to be tested on animals.
Unfortunately, 80 percent of the world's countries think otherwise and still allow the testing or sale of products tested on animals.
This honorable effort to defend the ban on animal testing in the European Union is now at risk: new animal tests have recently been called for, and Europe risks jeopardizing its position as a world leader in non-animal tested cosmetics.
If you have read this far, it means that you also believ in the importance ofcruelty-free, so you will be happy to know that the SAVE CRUELTY-FREE COSMETICS campaign was born: COMMIT FOR AN ANIMAL TESTING-FREE EUROPE, with the goal of inviting as many people as possible to sign the European Citizens' Initiative to demand that the European Union continue to protect animals from testing by the cosmetics industry.
To ensure the success of the initiative, the collection of one million valid signatures of European citizens is required by August 31, 2022, which is why we also need you and your signatures for this final, decisive round before the petition closes.
How to join the signature collection to support cruelty-free cosmetics:
→ are you a European citizen? CLICK HERE to sign the initiative (keep your EU passport number or national identification number handy!).
